My friend has the super 40's on his 89 5.0 and it sounds sick. Then again he just chopped out 2 chambers to make it a 1 chamber muffler then welded it back together...! lol sounds so mean

Hey man,
I just got the flowmaster 40's put on my car. They are deep and loud, but not too loud to get pulled over. I got my whole system put on for $400 with an H-pipe. The only thing is the mufflers do drone a bit in the 2000 to 2500 RPM range, nothing too bad, but kinda annoying sometimes.

These are great mufflers, The only thing I can say is if you want a more refined sound and can put a couple hundred more than 500 down, then get the American Thunders and not the 40's.

40's rule!

Hey Dude!
Save your money and put it on some other mod. I had the MRT and it sounds ricey not only my opinion but almost all my mustang friends that heard it.Also the drone on th einside at about 2200 RPM is terrible. I know some guys don't mind that. I took it off and installed a GT take off ( free from a friend and real cheap on EBAY) and... it sounds great now with just one I will be having a dual w/ H-pipe done and I'm sure it will even sound better. That just my 2 cents

I know this is alittle off topic because of the price, but I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Cervini/Magna flow side exit kit. I have heard so many different things about them. (eg. HP gains vs losses in v-6 verses v-8 and bad or good tone) I love the look and I think with some refining and a good body paint guy they could be make to look custom rather than like an afterthought. But then again I don't want to spend $1200.00 plus to make my mustang look good if it ends up sounding like a ricer with a straight pipe and loses 10hp. I would rather spend $300.00 and be happy with the tone and performance and come up with an decent alternative for the body kit.

The Flowmaster sounds alot deeper than stock at idle and there is no drone while cruising on the freeway. Perfect combo if you ask me. Plus you can't go wrong with the flowmaster sound. But of course that's just one man's opinion.

For a short time money saving option I would suggest this.
Find yourself a GT take off muffler and install it on your car.
This is a cheap mod and sounds good.

Then later on look for something that someone no longer wants and will sell it cheap.
I am very pleased with the GT Muffler that I put on my car.
I did not do the duals just kept with the single sided exhaust and the car has a nice little rumble to it.

Flowmaster 40's WITH H-PIPE. The others sound ricey. Had mine done custom at a shop $350. Nice deep sound yet not too loud. Other guys hear my Stang and they are switching.
