So with all that will this size tire work with my 2005 V6 mustang? P235/55 ZR17?

YES! that is the exact replacement for a GT so therefore they will bolt right on your car and look great!.

BUT you must have BOTH the new tires and rims. Tires or rims alone will NOT help you!
I didn't see where you said you will be getting both rims and tires.....

Yes, the rims have the tires on them already. I would eventully get new tires. Thanks so much for all your help.

If for some reason the tire and wheel set you mentioned seeing is not for sale or not available you should be able to go down to a local tire store chain (ask some friends to find a good one) and tell them you want 17" Bullitt wheels with P235/55 17 TIRES with either a R or S rating. The bullitt wheels are really popular in fact the store where I bought my wheels and tires had a several sets on hand in different sizes and in both polished aluminum and black. In fact I had a problem with my wheels after they put it back on the ground and tires stuck out about an inch past the fender in the rear. I was able to get the right offset ordered and just went back to have them changed out a couple days later when the right ones finally came in.
