Default Has anyone sucessfully added the Saleen Body kit on a 4.0?

Thinking of doing it but I don't know exactly what to tell the body shop. How much am I looking to get both exhausts working, adding the kit and having it painted? Does it sounds remotely as good as a GT with the Saleen exhaust?

Any info would be great.

the saleen kit is EXTREMELY expensive. the hood alone is like 800 bucks i think. the front fascia is close to 1k if not more... i have no idea what the 4.0 sounds like with saleen exhaust, but it wont sound like a gt. deeper and louder than stock...probably. but not like a gt.

I really want to do this lol. I think their design with the rear exit mufflers and the other mufflers that also hang for an extra exit of the exhaust is freakin pointless. you only need that if u have the supercharged v8 so i would drop that. But besides that, I think the kit is great. The new S281 fenders are carbon fiber too I'm pretty sure. Crash=crunch is my only worry. lol

EDIT-any body kit plus paint job 3k around

Complete Saleen body kits can be found for $1500. (these are legitimate Saleen parts) These kits come with front and rear Saleen bumper covers, side panels, grill, rear panel and tail light black out, rear wing, (3 pieces) these are unfinished and need to be prepped and painted. All grill inserts and needed lights and wiring come with these kits.
Unless you plan to get the S/C hood there is no reason to change you stock hood.

Now you will also need; (these prices may be different in your area but these are the prices I have found to be close in my area)

Saleen rear center exhaust $899 (+ tying in said exhaust, I would suggest headers and H pipe at this time $1200plus)
Paint and install est. $2500-3000
Saleen tires and rims $2000

(I would think you need that GT inner fender liner too as this is needed to conver a V6 to the GT bumper cover)

TOTAL Close to $8000 to have the Saleen look……..

AND ONE DAY:
A super charger or turbo to have the HP to match the look!

I was unaware the S281 had carbon fiber fenders. (the 2007 S281 Extreme maybe) The only pieces of carbon fiber I was aware of were the front splitter and rear air diffuser, and these are standard on the 2007 S281 Extreme. One would not have to change the fenders even if they are C/F as they look the same. I already addressed changing out the hood and it is aluminum.
The Saleen exhaust uses mufflers that have a vacuum actuated “dump†valve that opens when called upon. (pre 06 Saleen) The center mounted exhaust tips run through these same mufflers so unless someone wants to fabricate up a complete exhaust, I feel the stock ones could be made to work. It appears these ‘dump’ valves could be changed to either a fixed position or spring to allow them to open when needed.
But I agree you will not get the same exact sound and a V8 running the same exhaust.

I saw a Lt. Blue 4.0 "Saleen" at the Mustang Roundup in Bellevue WA this last summer. It looked almost exaclty like a "Saleen" except for a couple details like the guages & window trim. Oh and of course the 4.6! The kid standing around the car said it was all bought off the Saleen site and installed and painted by his Auto Body Dad.

the fenders are not carbon fiber and any of the saleens. The exhaust dumps open at about 4k i think. I have seen a 4.0 with a saleen kit and a custom exhaust...it had round tips insted of the saleen oval tips...looked stupid. I spent about 2k just on paint and install...you'll need to spend more since you'll need the H-pipe or X pipe and duals if you want to go the Saleen exhaust. Although a custom exhaust using one muffler wouldnt be that hard to do. Check with stage 3 motorsports, i got my kit and exhaust for 1899 from them...shipped! Just make sure you dont go aorund telling people you have a real saleen, if you get it done right and be honest about what you have, 90% of real saleen owners will love it, They all love me haha, well most. BTW i'll PM a place to get more saleen info.
