Default H or X pipe ? quote ? decision

HI, I got a quote of $240 for H and $100 more for X with GT takeoff muffler? Is this a good deal ? Do I go ahead with X for the price.

Thats a good price. I paid $250 for my H with GT duals. I don't like the sound of the X either.

I wouldn't until you look at one that's being sold on ebay. It's made by Ford racing. It's a real nice X, made for a GT, but drops right in on the V6/GT swap. Sounds great no harmonic buzz or drone. Just a nice tough sound. Get some GT takeoffs to go with it and you'll be happy. Here's the link:

Here's a cheaper one:

As Moderator, I think maybe I should delete the link to that second auction, which has nothing to do with the fact that I am currently the high bidder...

LOL, yes delete the link or you'll be sleepin' with the fishes. [sm=icon_beat.gif]

FYI, Justin at VMP told me they were seeing slightly more torque with the H-pipe, and slightly more HP with the X-pipe, but not significantly more either way, so ti really comes down to which one sounds better to you.

What I was wondering is when someone says one sounds better than the other........has anyone really done a real"A" to "B" test on a V6 Mustang side by side using the same mufflers........sound clips just don't do it for me,I have been in the sound and music business for many many years...............when it comes to AB testing, a sound clip on a computer is no real test for sound, way too many variables, has anywone donean AB test live?

I personally went with the X-pipe, still not installed, just for the convenience that 68XR7 explained and posted photos of the install..............using all Ford parts...............I called JBA and they wanted for their dual system an arm, leg, giirlfriend and whatever they could get..............geeezzzzzz!!! Not that all systems are over priced, just an example.....

Anyway would like to hear a live AB test.........JMO.

Oh, Happy Holidays all involved.......................and thanks again for the info 68XR7

Can't wait install, waiting on GT kit........................

P.S. Vista Blue Rocker panels available.....PM if their is an interest!

Now, where would one get an H pipe? I started to collect the pieces to put dual exhaust on, I have GT take offs so far, I am looking at the Pypes full conversion kit, but it comes with an X pipe. From all the feedback and polls and research I think I want an H pipe, where does one, such as myself, get one that will bolt on? Directly, without modification...
