Bullitt and Boss Mustangs

Bullitt and Boss Mustangs
Motor Trend is reporting that along with the Shelby GT, the Bullitt and Boss Mustangs will be out in 2007 (I know, we all knew this), but the Bullitt is pictured in Highland Green just like the '68 driven by Steve McQueen. Plain front grill and it mentions a blacked out rear panel between the tail lights. Looks good.
The Boss will introduce Ford's new 5.0 liter Hurricane V-8. The car is due out late in the year. The new engine should come in at 425 to 435 hp. Only 1000 to be built.
A slightly detuned version of the 5.0 (400 hp?) will become the regular GT's engine in 2008 when it gets a major facelift. It's reported that every exterior panel will be changed and updated with the base cars getting a more aggressive look, similiar to the current Shelby GT 500. The GT 500 will become even more extreme looking. An all new Mustang is due in 2010 a year after the new Challenger and Camaro launch.
They also mention the Mustang is making life tough for Chevy and Dodge because the Mustang is cheap to build. DaimlerChrysler couldn't figure out how to price a V-6 model Challenger within $5000 of a base Mustang, so they scrapped that plan and will only offer a V-8 which will make their wafer-thin profit margin even thinner. The Zeta platform for Chevy is causing a similiar problem even though it will be used on more cars. They attribute this problem to the DOHC 3.6 high feature V-6 and the six-speed automatic it needs as expensive and insiders say the 20K mark will be hard to meet.
Wah, wah, wah. I love it. Go Ford!
