Tuner without CAI

RE: Tuner without CAI
'nother question....
I have a Diablo sport tuner... with the canned tunes that come with it. Would I need a custom tune now to add a cai that requires a tune, or does the tune that comes with the tuners support the cai's?

RE: Tuner without CAI
fazm those are are great times so I am guessing that you have a manual trans.
IF i could get close to mid 14s without doing anything to extreme i would be happy.
But there come a point where you might just get a gt. When I got my car gts in az where going
for list if you ordered one or list plus a couple grand off the lot. You can get one now for under list price.

RE: Tuner without CAI
I have the same question as OP. I am looking to get the tuner without going the the CAI. I will eventually, just not yet. Some people have mentioned that the driveability of the car is reason enough to get a tuner. I also am looking to go from 87 to 93 octane gas for the performance jump.

RE: Tuner without CAI
yes i have a manual.
az's weather is harsh, so good times are a little harder to come by, even most the stock gt's here are running low to mid 14s at best.
just on friday there was a bone stock 06 gt auto at the track running 14.6-15.1 all day, and a shelby gt-h (hertz car with 325hp) running 14.0-14.4

RE: Tuner without CAI
i was the AFE mule and the CAI does not require a tune that being said i got my xcal 2 2 weeks before and man what a dif. the tuner is the one most importand item for the money. all the lag and other crap goes away. plus if your woried about the warentee and just want a little added power the tuner is it. plus now there are so many choices for you guys. when i did mine last year in june the only option was a dyno tune. it still is the best but the canned tunes today are pretty darn good. oh yea i have since removed the AFE due to my x-charger.

RE: Tuner without CAI
Fazm , I talked to the guy at az dyno he said you beat his gt.
I am getting the car tuned there but I have heard some people say the cai
doesnt do much. I am thinking of getting the c&l , is there at least gains of 5hp
with it. any opinions would be appreciated.
