several months ago motor trend tested the v6 mustang auto vs g6 auto convertibles


mustang g6
0-30 2.4 0-30 2.9
0-40 3.7 0-40 4.3
0-50 5.2 0-50 6.3
0-60 7.3 0-60 8.7
!/4 mile 15.5 89 mph 1/4 mile 16.50 84.6 mph


The mustang about .4 -.5/10 slower to 60 and about .3/10 slower in 1/4 mile than hardtop

The g6 about .7/10 slower to 60 and about .4/10 slower in 1/4 mile than hardtop

I know that these cars are weigh slightly more being convertibles but do these tested times seem right ? I thought the times would be a little closer than that , but I could be wrong.

It also seems between 50 -60 mph is when these cars ( verts) seem to drop off just slightly .Up to 50 I believe verts and hardtops would be about the same

that was probably an auto also.

manual coupe is like 6.5 i believe, and auto is like 6.7

cant believe theyd compare our car to that stupid thing

I had a G6 for a rental when i was in New Mexico on business last week. Trust me on this, it was not bad, but no comparison to my Mustang. Not nearly as responsive as the Mustang. My Mustang and the G6 were both hardtop autos.

g6 (besides gtp)= pwned by any s197. Not slow really, but they are not as quick. The gtp on the other hand is pretty damn quick.

..yeh but the gtp has a sticker of 25 then you add some options to it and it cant compare to the gt for the same price

My brother-in-law is kinda thinking about getting a G6. I saw one today and am totally unimpressed with the exterior styling. Looks like a hundred other "jell-bean / bubble" cars. At least our Mustangs have a styling that really stands out from the crowd.

I had an 05 g6 that I traded in for my stang 06 manual. the g6 does 0-60 7.9 -8.0 but the vert did it in 8.7 . that much of a difference seem right ? Maybe , unless their testing sometimes is off
