I need the 411 on this
I have read that you should not use the upper fuel grade tunes on long trips... How long of a trip is "Long" and why can't you just leave in a 91 tune all the time. And finally, do I really need a CAI with a tune or will a K&N work to get enough air flow. I just read where "nuke" just put a tune in and its not the "ummmph" that he expected, so do they really make that much of a difference? Tks, Scott

RE: I need the 411 on this
dono about the long trip part but the whole reason you need a tune with most of the higher performing intakes are because they have a larger pipe diameter. the mafs measures airflow at a rate calculated using the diameter of the stock tubing. going to larger tubing will make the motor run lean, that is mainly why alot of the aftermarket intakes will need a tune. a larger tube=more airflow=more power, so your best bet is to go with one of the intakes that require a tune.

I make a drive from Philadelphia to Southington, CTand back about once a week. That's about 240 miles each way. I've used my 93 tune with no problem on all but one of these trips. Where did you read you shouldn't use a higher-octane tune on a long trip?
