E-Brake Freezing..How To Fix?
Ok I saw a post on this but for the life of me I can't find it. My ebrake is freezing so I havent been using it, I park on a hill every day and my shifter is getting really tight? Is this normal? Anyway I am not under warranty anymore, so does anyone have a clue wat exactly is wrong, why it freezes, and how much it's going to run me to fix it? Thanks,.

need to replace the ebrake cable dude...or just don't put the ebrake down if you can...if your out of warranty its gonna have to come out of pocket...in this case its probably best to just eat it and go to the dealer...

I could see that...I know that even after I got my emergency brake fixed my car is still sluggish at first if its started up in deep deep cold...lol i guess our cars were designed for SoCal climates and not for the rest of the country....still though I haven't run into my shift being stiff necessarily just my gears not being as potent if im starting out in the deep cold...after a while though (5 minutes or so) everything starts to loosen up...

I'm out of warranty at 47K miles but got my dealer to 50/50 it with me since it is a known defect on a TSB. Youre out of pocket should be under $100. You get both rear brake cables replaced.

I had mine replaced at the dealer under warranty about2 weeks ago.The cable was on Intergalactic backorder for months. They replaced the left cable, but my brake still sticks,so I'm taking it back in until they fix it.

thanks dean that was my next question, which cable to replace.

RE: E-Brake Freezing..How To Fix?
The ends of my e-brake cables were on the floor while I was bolting on new LCA's, and they both left a big puddle of water in just a few minutes. It was surprising, since theonly time I drove it in rain was last September. I'm thinking I'llsquirt some snowmobile cable lubein them - itkeeps cables on ATV's and snowbiles from freezing up, so it might work.
