RE: Anyone put 3:73 gear in automatic?
I know quite a few people in my area running Nitrous on
the street. One guy with a Chevy Silverado Truck I think
another Camaro, and a 95 mustang 5.0..........If I wanted
to I wouldn't be worried about cops finding out, but I'd rather super/turbo
charge it than pump nitrous.

The 3.73's will work just fine on an auto, but don't try and save some bucks and skip using a good bearing, shim, seal kit. I would highly reccomend imstalling a ford t-lok at same time. If you go the route of getting used gears out of a wrecked ranger pickup, ask if the have the t-lok too, you might get a package deal for just a few buck's more.
I'd also take the driveshaft to a driveshaft repair shop, have them balance it. Ford does not dynamicly balance the two-piece drive shafts, and there is a big varance in the production process. Ford's solution is to just replace it with another one, hoping this will fix it. I had some poblems with high speed vibration after my gear change, but fixed it by haveing the drive shaft balanced. This two piece design is common in trucks, and any large truck driveline shop will be able to help with this. Cost was less than $100.
