Why was it idling so high? Were you holding it there?
Did the adaptive kick in and slow it down?
Is that normal after installing a new xc?

It was probably idling high because it hadn't been run in 8 hours and that was the initial start up. Just guessing.

It was idling a little over 1500rpm. Part of the installation calls for the fuse for the fuel pump to be pulled, and for you to crank the engine. So, there was no fuel at first, the car had sat for about 8 hours or so without being started, and it was about 20 degrees outside...well, maybe 30, but it was still cold! My car tends to idle high like that when it's cold, but after 5 mins or so she settles down.
