Default K&N cai vs K&N drop-in filter

I'm currently running with a K&N drop in replacement filter. Any noticable gains to be had with a K&N cai , or would this just be a $250 engine dress-up ?

Thanks for any advice .

Are you running a tune? If not I don't think you'll see any significant gains with the CAI. I did the same thing you are contemplating and while it looked good and the sound was cool, the gains over the drop in were not worth the money. Now if you are not running a tune, I think that would be money better spent and you will notice significant gains. Save a couple hundred more bucks and call Doug at B A M A C H I P S and get a X-Cal and some good tunes and you'll be very happy. I'm back to running the tune and K&N drop in and it's fine.
