Auto to Manual Swap in 4.0L
Hey guys, I was looking wayyy ahead in the life of my car..
Now, I know most would just say "just trade it in, and get a manual, etc." But the car has sentimental value - meaning it isn't going anywhere, not to mention, it already has $ invested into it.
I was wondering how much would a transmission swap cost? I live in Miami so if you know of Ford Transmission specialty shops down here, that would be even better. In any case, I know that sites like http://www.mpsautosalvage.com/produc....cfm?TypeID=40
Would sell the kits themselves for older mustang, none that I saw for the s197 yet. But what are your opinions?
The plans would be - get a manual transmission sometime in the next few years (no rush),
then later on, do an engine swap (i.e. Boss engine, the 350 hp one).
This car is really slowly turning into a project one.
Also, what about if you found a wrecked car, etc. - would that make a difference in the price? I know the labor would probably be extensive.

RE: Auto to Manual Swap in 4.0L
it's going to be quite pricey, i knew a local shop that had done it once before and they charged the guy a couple thousand to make everything perfect. so ya, it's been done before. if u can i think you should remove the mods you've done, trade in the car for a 5speed, and then reinstall the mods.

Ah Gotcha - do you remember how much, like ball park figure? The thing is, being my first stang, and already having some work in it, I'd rather keep it (although economically its not the best choice, I know)... but I just want to learn all my options.
Thanks man, I appreciate the reply

Guys, big thanks for the replies, I appreciate the help! Playboy, or anyone for that matter, would a GT manual transmission work on our V6 ? Does anyone know if both cars use the same transmission?
Thanks I appreciate it!

In other words, which parts from the new takeoff website would I have to purchase (aside from the obvious 699.00 one lol. Thanks man, that website is gold. And thanks for the referral, I've been searching for a mustang specialist store for ever down here in MIA.

keep it auto. seems like too much hassle and even if you get it done, u may run into some sort of problems that will ruin the sentimental value. if you did all the performance mods you want, go for some more appearance mods. just my thought. i guess i like the auto cuz i can play with my chicks while driving.
