Check Engine Light... Just came on...
Recently I drove my car down to Rocky Point (Mexico) and on my way back. My check engine light came on. I wasn't paying attention to when it came on exactly, but I had just hit 23,000 miles.
I knew the gas down there is not the greatest quality, but I didnot expect my car to run as poorly on it as it did. (Enginedidn't sound right, seemed a bit sluggish)... I filled up to about half a tank while down there. Now that i'm back,I've been driving on premium now for about 200 miles, and the car is running fine now.
Do I just need to get the check engine light cleared, or is it possible that something has become clogged or sensors that have become dirty because of the quality of the fuel?
I will take it down the the dealership to get the light cleared, but i'm not going to let them come back and tell me that my system needs to be flushed, etc... For$500.

RE: Check Engine Light... Just came on...
Find a fellow owner from your area with an Xcal-II or a Predator tuner, all those can readDTC's on any ODBII based Ford. Relax, reading the codes does not affect the warranty....
Find out yourself first what codes you have, look them up, and then either clear them (if you are confident)or take itto the dealer. At least you will know before hand what it is / waswhen they tell youwhat the find out at the dealer.....
Good luck
