Rear Gears

RE: Rear Gears
It's about $500. If you have to ask how hard it is, it's too hard. I had several mechanics that didn't want to do it. I wound up getting mine done at Ford. They did a good job, but they claim that they couldn't calibrate the speedo for 3:73's because they were never offered as a stock option for our cars. They fooled around with the tire size in the computer and got it pretty close. If you have a tuner, you can set the speedo yourself. Funny that we can do it and Ford can't?

That is a 1990 Geo Storm with a 327 Chevy small block and 144 Weiand Street Blower. It has 815 hp at 7400 rpm. It has a full tube chassis and roll cage it is NHRA legal and street legal; he drives it whenever the weather is nice. His best time was 8.4 at 141mph at Bunker Hill raceway in Indiana. Him and his son built the car from the ground up in 3 years.

I had ford do mine, went with 3.73's and a ford t-lok. If you order the parts thru your ford dealer, there is a program where on ford racing upgrades to the mustangs, if ford does the mod, you get the new parts picked up under factory warranty, and any extended warranty you've purchased. That will cost you a little more, but might be worth it for the warranty repair if you ever need it.
