who has lowered there cars?
I am thinking about buying steeda ultralite springs for the 4.0. I will be using these springs with the GT takeoff shocks and struts I have. How do the ones that lowered there cars like it? The ride, handling and the track? Will there be a problem with my LCA's or would I have to get relocation brackets?
Any pic would help as well. These springs will lower the car 1" in front and 1 1/4" in rear.................
Thanks
Eric

RE: who has lowered there cars?
Here is a great write up about Mustang suspension:
Galaxies write up
here is a whole tread full of lower car pictures:
MUSTANG FORUMS picture show and TMS PICTURE show
honestly to go with GT shocks and strutswould be senseless, they are the same between the V6 pony and GT. If you must go aftermarket.
To lower your car is very easy, way easier than I ever thought before I did it myself. The car handles like a dream now, LCA bracket recommended if you lower you car more than an inch. This is crazy ALs write up about it : right here. I didn't want ot chance it I went with C H E anti-squat brackets just to make sure they are level. ONE WORD; AWESOME!

RE: who has lowered there cars?
i have the steeda springs and love them. i just wish the d-specks were out 2 years ago when i lowered my car. i would have installed them then. and as mays said dont waste your money the springs, shocks and struts are the same, only diff is the gt has the larger front sway and a rear sway. the pony pack has the front and rear sway.

Why isn't anyone mentioning the ride after lowering. I can tell you one thing, you'd better really really like the looks after lowering because it will ride like crap! If anyone tells you otherwise they are not being honest.

The ride of the car is subjective Rupp. Some people don't mind it, other do. Personally I don't really like a car where you feel nothing. The handling after a drop should be substantially better.

The handling is better but you tend to feel every bump and curve in the road, is this true? Personally I think my car handles amazingly as it is and I can't imagine it being even better.

the new rake and handeling is worth the harsher ride. plus i like to feal the road. also installing d-specks from what i have heard makes the ride better. i myself wanted a daily driver that looked sporty and retro the lower look is much better than the 4x4 look in my opinion. i do think the 1.5 - 2 drop. is a bit much mine is the 1.25

RE: who has lowered there cars?
My premium coupe came with the front and rear sways, so it's not just the Ponies and GT's that get them, as most folks think. I upgraded the sways to beefier than the GT's, I can't remember the brand, and I went with super heavy poly bushings. My car tracks beautifully and handles just as well as my buddies new GTO, if not better.Iwouldn't consider lowering later due to the quality of my sways, I may upgrade springs and strut cartridges and that's about it.If you do lower ityou need to watch how you plan your mods afterward.
By the way the "retro" look is not lowered, on my 66 & 67 I could lay underthemand change the starter...without a jack.

RE: who has lowered there cars?
well i quess but the 4x4 the mustang has isnt for me. and the fact that ford has roled the fender lips it begs to lower it. it was nice not to roll the fender like my 69 nova with the old baseball bat trick.
