Well I just checked it out and my chest is well farther than 10 inches from the wheel. Hmmm..

Hey if you read the safety reports.... Who cares even if you sit 2 inches away you are still safer than driving a Kia

NHTSA Crash-Test Results Pretty amazing numbers
Test 2-door coupe
Front Impact, Driver 5
Front Impact, Passenger 5
Rollover Resistance 5
Side Impact, Driver 4

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) tests a vehicle's crashworthiness in front- and side-impact collisions and rates its resistance to rollovers. Front-impact crash-test numbers indicate the chance of serious injury: 5 = 10% or less; 4 = 10-20%; 3 = 20-35%; 2 = 35-45%; 1 = More than 45%. Side-impact crash-test numbers indicate: 5 = 5% or less; 4 = 6-10%; 3 = 11-20%; 2 = 21-25%; 1 = More than 26%. Rollover resistance numbers indicate the chance for rollover when the vehicle leaves the roadway: 5 = Less than 10%; 4 = 10-20%; 3 = 20-30%; 2 = 30-40%; 1 = More than 40%.

So those numbers are for the NG Mustangs? I always thought Mustangs held up well in serious accidents. I've seen a lot of 2000ish Mustangs involved in catastrophic accidents and they seem to hold together well. If the numbers are so good how come we don't see more about these excellent numbers on the news?

Because it's unpopular in the media to favor American engineering right now.

I wouldn't really worry about it. Just be comfortable. Play with the seat height along with the front to back and back rest. At first I had the seat too high and found myself close then lowered it a bit and played around so now it's really comfortable.
