RE: bang for buck is back MOTHA!
Looking at some of my old(very old!) copies of Car & Driver, I found a road test of a 1985 Mustang GT(5.0L, 5 speed stick, 3.08 gears, 7.5" diff with traction lok, and 210hp with 265lb/ft torque and 3250lb weight) it goes 0-60 in 6.4 sec and covers the 1/4 mile in 14.9@92mph, sounds like the S197 V-6(with less torque and more weight) can give this oldie a run for it's moneyAlthough my old copy of Road & Trackhas itdoing 7.2(0-60) and 15.7(1/4 mile) for the '85 GT 5 speed...go figure!
Like I've said before, coming of driving age in the early 80's(the smog years) anything 0-60 in 6.5 seconds(andunder)was a Super Car(as in a Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche 911 Turbo etc.) fast. No domestics in the early 80's could run with a S197 V-6(closest, maybe a L-82 'Vette), we're so spoiled nowadays!

Stickered at $19,995, financed $16,900. Traded in a 2000 Mercury Cougar that they paid me what I owed for it, offered me $1500 off the sticker, and I am an A-Planner. Bought it on Dec 23 2006. I got a helluva deal!
