I tuned an 05 V6 auto with a Vortech at 10psi...
Today Eric brought his 2005 Automatic 4.0L Mustang to me for a dynotune. The car has the standard Aftercooled Vortech with 10psi/3.25" pulley, stock gears, aftermarket wheels/tires, and single exhaust with an aero turbine muffler.
The car ended up making 310RWHP and 304RWTQ, I was able to improve the area under the curve. We were hoping for higher peak #s but todays heat and the heavy aftermarket wheels did not help. The car now comes out of the hole much better. I think Eric's next move should be a 3" pulley (about 12psi) and some better headers.
Dialing in the WOT tuning did not take too long, I've had a ton of experience with blown 4.0s (my wife owns one) so the spark and fuel calibration went pretty quick. After we took the car off the dyno it was time for some street driving to tweak the shift points, converter lockup, and pedal feel. We got the car to be responsive while not being too jumpy. I have the shift points just above 6000rpm. Once the car gets into 2nd the converter locks up to put as much power as possible to the wheels. The WOT shifts are firm but don't elicit excessive wheel spin (it will slow you down). I feel I came up with a very good blown V6 automatic program (based on my GT program).
