cobalt ss isnt a bad choice either, right there with the srt-4.

Caddy CTS-V? Plymouth Prowler? Chevy SS-R? Chevy Trailblazer SS? GMC Syclone & Typhoon?

I'd agree to the caddy, the prowler is just a niche car, not fast, the SS-R is a niche car too, but it can be fast, but I doubt I'll ever see one, the TBSS/SRT8 Cherokee I forgot all about, the SY/TY I agree, but chances of seeing one are slim to none, and the baby SVTs are awefully limited, unless you wanna spend alot, but I guess I can agree, but I dunno, and the ACR, not really, at least the old ones, yeah they handled, but meh, SRT-ACRs, yea, but it just bunches in w/ theSRT-4.

The only eclipse worth going after are the gen I/gen II cars, not the III, and the IV has yet to prove itself.

I suppose if you're looking for a car and an eclipse or a v6 S197 i in your budget there are few you can get as new as these for the price, but there are still better choices for an enthusiast car than a base model. For what it's worth though, I think my mustang is a great car, it just wasn't in our budget to have a souped up GTO and a souped up S197 GT. 0%/72months is what got us into this mustang anyway.

We have an 07 Eclipse and an 06 V6 Mustang.

Performance wise they are similar, the Eclipse GT I would expect is quicker.
The Eclipse is not a tin can, it's a nice highway car, been to Orlando and back. In fact now that the Mustang is heavily modded the Eclipse is the car of choice on long rides when my wife is along.
The Eclipse handles very well, good breaks and good mileage, insurance is about the same for both cars.

In my opinion i dont like the new eclipse at all. The only ones that are sweet are the old turbo ones. Plus when it comes down to looks, the eclipse looks like ahippo driving down the road. and the mustang is just sexy as F U C K.
