RE: contemplating '07 pony vs '06 non pony
Pony package Mustangs do NOT have GT sway bars, etc. Ford literature says "GT inspired suspension".
Plus you get the 17" tire/wheel package - much better than the 16" stock tires/wheels. Foglight grille and rear spoiler are also part of the Pony package. I drove a non-Pony package Mustang convertible on a vacation trip recently and I could definitely feel the difference in the suspension and handling. Seemed like it was slower off the line too ... maybe the difference in tire/wheel size ?
I'm very glad I got the Pony package on my '07.

In Canadian funds, the '06 non pony I believe is 22,900 and '07 pony package automatic is 27,999.
Also, since '06 being used might/will be higher interest while the '07 is guaranteed 2.9%
and the kilometers on the used pony is 22k

I doubt the savings in the lower % APR on the 07 will come anywhere near the $5K you're saving between the two model years.

Main thing is do a long test drive to see if it has the horrible thunking sound in the front suspension. If so walk away. It will drive you crazy. What it's doing to me and Ford won't fix it.

+1
Test drove the non pony vs pony... pony does handle better. You can always skip the pony package, grill, all the options, bigger tire sizes, interior, etc etc etc if you plan to change all of that. Like what was said... why pay for all those expensive upgrades then spend more $$$ on replacing them? Get a stock and trick it out
I am happy with what my pony came with and am probably not going to change TOO much of what the pony came with anytime soon. I'd probably buy myself a gt alongside my pony to trick out instead honestly... but that's way out into the future.

the vert has a dif front suspension....the coupe have a missing member, they only put it on the vert to support the front end....someone had a post regarding this, I test drove a vert and it does ride better...no annoying "thud" in the front end.
