Hey, I'm happy with anything around 20 mpg. I have a '66 Galaxie with a 390 that gets about 15 mpg on a really good day!

My average used to be 21-24 city / 25-26 hwy. It was pretty predictable once I learned to keep my foot off the excelerator at traffic lights! That was in the summer and fall. The winter season is currently a mystery to me.[sm=dontgetit.gif]For some reason as soon as I put on the CDCgrille and the winter season really hit, the gas mileage sucks! Lucky if I'm getting 16! The only thing I can think of is the CDC grille has wider spacing and is allowing better air flow (good for those 110 degree summer days we get here), so in cold winter temps is keeping the engine running colder? Or maybe it's just the cold weather alone causing the issue? It has been 9 degrees here lately at night and only 25-30 in the days. All I know is the car doesn't like the cold!

Perhaps winter fuel? In areas where the fuel formulations change for winter, it's common to see poor mileage. Worse in recent years than ever before- wonder what they do to the fuel...

Unless your thermostat is bad, those temps won't affect operting temp - it would have to be so cold your engine can't stay at operating temp with a closed thermostat - Arctic conditions.

YellowFlame: Thanks for the input! I noticed our Toyota truck is starting to get crappy gas mileage too, from mid 20's down to 16's. But the Ford Ranger is still the same??? Wierd!

We used to get 33-35 mpg tankful after tanful.
Then we got the Mustang.
Best tank yet hasn't been over 22mpg.
I find it very hard to believe some of your claims.

Same here... Mathematics are not for everyone.[&:]

But I'll match those numbers at idle

thats great mileage, it is tough to keep your foot off the accelerator in our cars though but i do have to agree with ^^^ the most ive ever made was 350 miles all highway ...... 32.5 * 16 = 520 miles that doesnt sound right

Well here...
Screw whatthe computer says in our cars.
I went to the Siver Springs Mustang Round-up show in Ocala FL yesterday...
90 Miles away from Orlando, one way.

Our gas tank holds 16 Gallons. I used exactly half, for the trip.
So,180 miles (at 80mph) and used 8 Gal.
My average was 22.5. The stupid info center on the dash said 19.2. Wrong!

All this on a stock engine with K/N filter only.

I will say that I have gotten 29.5 mpg for a fact. That's with a stock car, cruise control at 60-65, a/c down, radio at a lower volume and ALL highway. Wish I still had the receipt, but case in point, under the right settings, it certainly is possible, especially running 93 octane.

for anyone that cant get 25+mpg then you just need to learn to control your right foot.

i put over 400hp to the wheels, and in my DD commute i get about 22-26mpg

my gas light doesnt even come on until i get about 310-330 miles to the tank, which means i still have about 2 gallons of gas left
