Default May be a REALLY stupid question

but i was washing my car the other day and while admiring it, i looked underneath and noticed this little black thing under the front fender of my car. i'm honestly not sure what it is. i've heard some talk of a chin spoiler and was wondering if thats what it was and if it came standard on 05 because i didnt pay extra for it. yea i've had my car since december of 05 and i'm just NOW realizing this.

i wish i could take a pic of it to show you guys what i'm talking about but my cam's memory is full and i dont know where my damn USB cable is [:@]

I'm going to assume you mean under the front bumper.

All of 1"of black plastic around the front end.

It's the lamest excuse for a "stock" spoiler I've seen.

Don't feel too bad about not noticing it - there's just something about the underside of the car that prevent most people in clean clothesfrom looking at it in detail.

I remember that my 94 GT had one of those - served as a "curb feeler" most of the time, until it finally broke off....

that my friend is your factory installed UAD....undercarriage air deflector, it's designed to stop bags, branches, trashetc. from going up into the engine compartment and to break the airflow under your car.

You beat me to it Sometimes it is also referred to as an air dam.

Comes in handy when trying to go down a steep driveway. The black will scrape before the painted part of the bumper (we hope).

I always think of those big 70's Can Am front ends they had on Camaros and Porsches as "Air Dams". Even saw one on a 63 Corvair that looked pretty wild back in the day.

But this stock thing we got? Come on. For another $2 they could have made it 2" wide...

Maybe 3" with serrated teeth...

Reinforce with carbon fiber...

Make it out of metal...

DEATH RACE 2007

Sorry, got carried away...

We now return you to your regular programming already in progress...
