apparently it is pretty easy if you can lift up the car and if you dont have your exhaust welded on. it is supposidly a 30 min job

That's actually the GT driveshaft. from the Driveshaft Shop. Their steel V6 one is here: http://www.driveshaftshop.com/item169591.ctlg

They also have an aluminum unit for the V6 at $649. I'll be installing it Saturday. Will report afterwards.

Default RE: new driveshaft?

If I swap out the 7.5" rear end for a GT 8.8" rear, can I just use a stock GT driveshaft?
My 06 V6 is an auto, which is the same as the GT, but is the length of the driveshaft an issue?

I'd really hate to spend $600+ on just a driveshaft.

Between that and the t-lok and gears, It would be cheaper to go with a 3.55 GT rear and GT driveshaft.
And never have to worry about it again.

Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks!

The stock GT driveshaft is a two section unit, with a carrier bearing in the middle. the whole assembly weighs about 70lbs. Even if it would work (and it wouldn't without mods if I recall correctly) it'd be a very poor way to go....

Compare that to 18-22 lbs for a decent aftermarket performance shaft.
