RE: Im new 'n i got some questions
there was a post on here about a guy in an auto who spun out in the rain because his auto switched gears in a turn when it shouldnt have.
basically in an auto you will have no control over gear switch as long as the car is in D. if you are in a manual, you can figure out when to switch dependent upon conditions.

As far as snow get posi fast....lol JMO thou.... For the auto or 5speed, A very wise respected man told me that for these cars the AUTO is the way to go. You'll get more benifit out of a tune with an auto and in rush hour its a much easier drive.
GOOD luck and welcome to the forums

It's not generally something I worry about. I think it's more important to always consider how a RWD vehicle is going to react. Maybe for people with little or no RWD experience, the best rule of thumb is to remember that when traction is compromised, the back end will always try to be in front.
SOHC - I've heard that about the F-104, too. But, I happen to like the "Missle With a Man In It". Not sure why any government ever bought those - not exactly practical. But, I still think they were cool. Seems like most jet fighters of that era and those before it were all fairly unforgiving and usually not willing to give a warning before things went from bad to worse.

Yeah, I don't get that. Does the Mustang auto have a wicked downshift when you're on the brakes, or what? I've never seen an auto downshift cause a spin like that, but it seems like some of the posters on the thread you mentioned know something I don't.

When the wheel(s) loose traction the tranny downshifts. If you are moving in an arc, you're screwed. Your torque is applied without restraint and you spin. Regardless of pedal pressure. Scary. Just MANUALLY shift your auto in really slippery conditions. (Actually happened in my pony on DRY pavement once, lotsa torque!)
P51: The F-104 was classified an "interceptor" so it wasn't technically designed to dogfight, but it was fairly nimble even with 7 foot wings...
One of the best publicised shots of F-104 takeoff is in the Star Trek episode where the Enterprise goes back to 1967-9 (can't remember exactly)...
2, 104s bobbing down the runway side-by-side then pull up and go FULL AB!!! AWESOME!
