And one wheel burnouts are avery dangerous thing. The spider gears in your differential have no bearings, so if you do enough one wheelers you will weld yourselfa homemadesolid rear axleshaft. Which will snap on the next corner you drive around.

its gearing and weight transfer. reverse is an extremely short gear, and since our cars are rwd, when you try to burn out moving forward, as soon as you get that little lurch forward, about 150-200 lbs of extra weight is pushing on those rear wheels that would usually be over the front...when you do it in reverse you are taking weight off the rear wheels and putting it over the front wheels, so it is easier to spin the tires.

Dunno if your on stock tires or not but gotta make sure if your not you don thave directional tires. Saw a vette floor it in reverse from a tire shop with brand new tires on. Shredded them up because they were directional o_O

its all about the weight...driving forward, all the weight shifts to the back...on top of the rear wheels (and as you know our cars are rwd)...but in reverse..all the weight is to the front of the car, so essentially theres not much holding down the rear end of the car...bc theres not much weight behind them..you could do the same thing in a front wheel drive car and it would be harder to spin the tires going in reverse than in our car...in other words...take our same car, engine, etc., make it fwd, and it would be the opposite..burnouts in reverse would be nearly impossible..

I spun an F-150's tires in reverse while I had my boss in the cab once, but he didn't mind just as long as I didn't hit anything. I was used to driving an older car is why.
The title of this thread reminded me, my friend has a 300M sedan and he said someone in Virginia told him that he could turn off his governor if he drove his car in reverse for a 1/4 mile. So he tried it, thinking the guy was just pulling his chain. What do you know, it worked. But he doesn't do it any more because he said it's hard to find a place around where he lives that has 1/4 mile of road that he can successfully pull that off and also now he's trying to drive 65-70mph on the freeway only because his insurance jacked him up so much for speeding tickets over the years.
