whats different about them? why wouldnt an auto muffer fit on a manual?

They are interchangeable, but it is alledged that the mufflers from a GT auto are less free-flowing than from a manual.

BTW, it's so easy to swap out the passenger side muffler that I helped my 11yo son do it, and he got it done in less than 30 minutes.

All I know is that the part #s are different. Been under a few 06 and
07 stangs and the #s are different. Not sure how different but they
sound different for sure.

Axel-backs do not require any cutting or welding (unless, like you said, you're going from single to dual). But for most people, all you need is a wrench and 30 minutes to replace a single axle-back. 40 bucks seems really cheap - I think I paid 80 for mine.

Anybody have ideas on what to do with the extra mufflers (left GT and right V6)? They're sitting on my garage floor, and would like to sell or scrap them.

Post them in the classified section. There was a guy on here who had one GT takeoff and was looking for one more.

Just a local shop that my Ford Dealer recommended. They told me they send a lot of V6 Mustangs to that shop.
Before calling the dealer, I called a local Midas shop, the guy told me it couldn't be done. Wait 'til they are on, I plan on stopping by and showing him that they are indeed being done.

i went with the manual trans muff. on my auto. the sound fine,
had a tad bit of clearance problem but fixed that by drilling the bracket a bit.
