I usually just put it in neutral and slow down with the brakes, even if I am in 4th or 5th...is there anything wrong with this? Keep in mind that I glide in neutral usually quite a while, dont just jump on the brakes at 80mph.

well most people that will tell you, you are better off downshifting than using the brakes learned how to drive on a car with drum brakes, or back when even disk brakes were ****ty and you had to worry about brake fade in normal driving conditions. either rev match when you down shift or dont do it at all, that's how i see it.

I agree with 8cd03gro about rev matching. Practicing the heel and toe technique helps a lot when it comes to downshifts. Works better with racing pedals though.
