GT take-off vs. Ford Racing exhaust
Well....I've had the car for two weeks andI couldn't be happier...except...LOL.
I'm looking to change the exhaust as my first mod. Any preference on the GT take-off vs. the Ford Racing exhaust? Will I gain any hp at all or just enjoy the sound?

I've got the Ford racing and I am definitely happy with it. The question is, do you want people do know you've done some exhaust work. The ford racing muffler is pretty aggressive sounding.

I had my car about a week before I had the Ford Racing muffler put on it. I can't say how much HP was gained because I didn't have a good feel for the car yet, but the sound quality was a definite improvement. I wanted the sound volume to be definitely noticeable but still within acceptable limits. It has a hint of aggressiveness at idle, attitude when accelerating and definite guts when you are really stepping on it. It is 50-state legal for noise level according to Ford. It's probably the loudest muffler you can get that you'd never have to worry about drawing unwanted attention from law enforcement. The GT take-offs are a lot cheaper, but they are a bit more sedate and IMHO the Racing muffler's tailpipelooks way better. I also liked the idea of keeping the muffler "Ford". There's many many posts aboutexhaust mods and what they sound like. Even listening to soundclips only gives you an idea of what to expect from the different mufflers, axle-backs, etc, but I don't think anyone looking to upgrade their muffler would be disappointed with this one. Did I say the tailpipe looks awesome?

Like everyone else, I too own a ford racing exhaust. I love it! I am sure you will be satisfied either way though--gt take off or ford racing. check out the exhaust sticky for clips.

ok.... enough with the ford racing exhaust. lol jk. I have the gt-takeoff, and it is the cheapest(inexpensive) way to go. It cost me a total of 79$ for everything. It sounds great too. It is not over bearing for everyday driving purposes, but when you get on it, it'll turn heads. also no drone at all!

GT take-off here. $5 + $30 S/H off eBay.
Nice sound, bolts right up and no drone.
Cheapest bang for the buck. FFRP maybe
later on but its GT take-off for now. Be sure
to get a GT takepoff from a GT with the same
type of transmission, ie manual or auto, as you
have. They ARE different.
