Default "canned" tunes?

Ok from reading these forums, my impression of what a "canned" tune is - a tune for your stock car that came with the tuner. Is this correct? If so, I got an XCal II used, so it doesn't have the "canned" tunes on it.I'm waiting for an intake, butit could be a while. How would I go about getting a "canned" SCT XCal 2 tune for my stock car?I'm onlyinterested if it is free, I'm a cheap *** like that !My carhas computer code DUR3.

Actually a "canned tune" is any tune that you get that wasn't custom made for your car. It isn't just for stock cars, there are even supercharger "canned" tunes.

If you want a custom tune - you have to go to a dyno and get a technician to do it for you so yes, you will be getting a canned tun w/ the XCAL2 stuff

hmm. not sure how XCAL's work but Diablo includes 87, 91, and 93 perf tunes with their basic program/firmware which you can update from their website. it even has specialty tunes if you own a JLT or C&L intake. still not as good as a custom i'm sure but i've been running my 91 canned tune for over a year now and its been good to me so its def. better than stock.

Actually that is a common misconception. The different tunes types are:
[ul][*]"canned tunes" - these come loaded onto your handehld tuner from the factory.[*]"custom tunes" - these are offered by tuners like Brenspeed, Evolution, VMP, AA, etc. You tell them the mods/options you have for your car, and they load the tuner with their customized tunes (they will sometimes email them to you, for a fee)[*]"dyno tunes" - just like the name implies. They're done on a dyno while monitoring A/F ratios and other variables.[/ul]
