Which Intake produces more H.P?

RE: Which Intake produces more H.P?
well my AEM has a huge *** filter also but isn't the MAF I/D what matters between a "must tune" and "no tune" intake? i mean, you can have a tube as big as a freakin sewer pipe but if the MAF housing inside diameter is still smaller, the restricion is still there. i know my AEM gave me a noticeable improved throttle response w/o tune but i'm just not sure if its worth keeping since i'll be ordering some custom tunes. by the way, the MAF size on my AEM is same as stock.

An intake isn't worth the $ unless you are getting a tune with it. you'll want to get a tuner programmer with your tune incase you ever have to reflash to stock. A tuner is also a necessary first step toalot ofmods you may want to do in the future.
Bottom Line, get a tuner with the intake. If you cant get both, get the tuner first as it will make a much bigger difference then an intake alone.

SteelStang05,
i looked at the Airraid website and saw the intake i'm assuming you have. you're right that the tube and filter are big but the diameter of where the MAF sensor goes looks stock size to me. this is the same deal with my Brute Force intake. i was debating whether to purchase some custom tunes while keeping my AEM or if i should go for it and buy a C&L then get custom tunes. i'm sure the C&L has more potential based on the big 83mm MAF housing diameter but wasn't sure if the gains over my AEM are worth dropping another $280 or so. anybody that has any helpful info on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
-i guess if i had more cash on me, this wouldn't be an issue. i need more freelance side-jobs. anybody need graphic design work done?[8D]

I don't know, have u seen the size of the airraid CAI's. I know someone with th K&N and mine CAI is about 1.5 times the size of his tubing and filter. So what ever u think but if I dynod my car after the CAI, Ithinkif I dyno'd mycar after the CAI it would bepretty close to those #'s. if u don't believe me ask other people who've installed the Airraid CAIin their car.It may just be me but I know Denny is one who hasthe same CAI do I'll ask him or u could.

Read every word of this post:

Here's a guy that tested alot of cai's, and found that they're not much different.
I am running a tune, an EBAY INTAKE for $70, and true dual exhaust with no crosspipe, and I hit the 1/4 mile in 14.6 @ 93.3mph. So you're telling me I can snap on the Air Raid, and drop to 14.5??? Right..
It's a filter and a pipe.. how much more technical can it get?

For what its worth! When I was stock, I came in on 163hp/mustang dyno. Afterinstalling the Airaid CAI, 1 Flowmaster AT & the X-cal II dyno tune. I had something like 195hp. I can't say what hp the CAI gave me or the gain on the muffler or the tune, but I know I had pick up 32hp with the combo. I hope can help a lil! Denny

When someone talks about having their car on the dyno, and when they tell you how much hp/tq it produced they say "something like 190", you pretty much know they havnt had their car on a dyno....lmao
