Install it yourself... the instructions are easy to follow and only basic hand tools are required.

I looked at the PDF instructions to install it and I was very intimadated by the length of the instructions. It might be easier than it sounds but I doubt that. I admire you and everyone else that has managed to do the install themselves! I don't think I would be able to install it myself and have it work right. I would also wait until I had over 36,000 miles before having it installed.

Well, brainiac, of the 33units sold and installed only 1 or 2 people hadtheX kit installed by ashop. How do youestimatethe costif you have no install prices to average. Guess? That's a big help to the person asking.
I suggest downloading the pdf install manual and visiting a few shops for prices (It takes the average mustang owner with limited skill appxa day to install )

Honestly I would find someone with some automotive experience to help you install the X-Charger. I had the benefit of installing the X with Doug from B A M A and Dave from Explorer Express (and a few others). Although the install went real easy, I don't know what I would have done if I had hit any bumps and those guys were not there. From the perspective of the novice though, the install is virtually identical to the explanation in the manual.

To answer your question, I have no idea how much it would cost to install the X. Sorry.

Being at the xcharger install get together thing, I would say a shop would charger 6-8 hours of labor which is between 500-1000 bucks depending where you go. This is better than a centrifugal where they can charge 8-12 hours

Having done mine myself, I don't think a shop is needed at all. Anyone with semi-decent mechanical skills can do this following the (well illustrated and explained) instructions. The reason they may seem "long" is that every single step is carefully described and photographed.

If you don't have the skills, dig up a buddy or two with them. Total install cost there? Probably a case of beer.

typical install time has been around 4-5 hours, for most, get a shops labor rate and go from there, also if you lived close to one of us we would probably help for free
