'03 T-Bird V8 times Vs Stang V6

My neighbor down the street has a 2003 red convertible Thunderbird. He had garage built just for the car. Anyway, his car is a V8 which boast 280 hp.....ours are rated 210. The T-bird's 0-60 times is 6.70 ours 6.5.....T-bird 1/4 mile 15.10 ours 15.3. So why is the Thunderbird not any faster? It only has two seats? Could it be the hard top that's on the vert that weighs it down?
I was a little surprised when I saw those numbers. http://soundmachine.org/dci/forum/im...on_jawdrop.gifLink provided below;

I reckon you just found an inexpensive, flexible means of lowering your car. Just gotta feed her.

LOL. I guess instead of measuring your mileage in gallons, you'd have to measure it in fast food consumption???:D
