Default New filter or new intake?

i did some more in-depth researching on my aem intake. seems as though the biggest knock on the intake is the dryflow filter itself. even though it filters dust and particles better than a K&N or any other quality cotton gauze filter, the catch to a better filtering product is a more restrictive product. i'm wondering if its worth me purchasing a C&L which i originally planned on, or just buy a universal cone filter, K&N or S&B, that fits my aem pipe and run with that. i expect a quicker throttle response from a cotton filter but is it close enough to a C&L? i dont have much too spend but i will save and get a C&L if its noticeable and worth it. any helpful opinions would be much appreciated.

No, keep the intake, and just keep the filter clean, filtrarion is a very good thing. Even if you pick up a few HP from a differnt one you probably wont feel it.

hey thanks for your feedback. i recently installed a K&N cone filter on my ranger, which also has a 40 series flowmaster, and i felt a very noticeable diff on throttle response and acceleration over the k&n drop in i previously had. most people who own an AEM say they dont notice much diff over the stock intake. i just thought if i at least replace the filter with a quality cotton gauze element, i can find even better response and a tad quicker acceleration......or i could be wrong[&:].....i just thought of buying a cone filter replacement since a K&N cost only around $45.
