Don't worry, the cats will stay untouched.

yeah, bend under the driver door and you can see them right there heading up towards the engine.

My dads friend said I cant do just any duals without touching the cats, because he said they are too far back to cut them and get an X pipe.
He said this is only on the v6's. Is this true? Does anyone have a picture of where the Cats are?

He said inorder to get the correct set I would have to spend about 700 on a set that won't replace/ hurt the cats.
Your Dad's friend is wrong. I have a Ford GT X-pipe cut in after my cats. A new driver's side midpipe was needed, as well as the 2nd GT take-off muffler. But there are many folks here who have an x-pipe or h-pipe with their duals.

Hmm soI would need a midpipe, custom X pipe , hangers and 2 mufflers right? Do I need any clamps etc? I just need to figure out my money to parts needed ratio : /.

Can someone reccomend me a cheap sufficient Midpipe plz. A custom X pipe is around 100 bucks , gt muffler oems are around 100, hangers are 30 , the hole to cut out is 50 bucks labor. Thats already $280. if I need clamps and a midpipe + labor how much would that be : ( I don't want to spend over 500 on this so figure labor for welding, bolting on etc is 150 bucks thats $430 I have 70 more to spend : /rofl I think im screwed.

all help is wanted and appreciated.
Plz tell me if my prices are wrong because any help is appreciated : )
Cut the hole yourself and you've saved $50. I think my Ford mid-pipe was around $125. My X-pipe included clamps, but any muffler shop will have clamps too. My total cost (parts & labor) was under $500, but not by much.

Can you PM me plz where you bought your setup and what things you bought

Thank you,
Paul
For everyone's benefit:
[ul][*]GT take-off mufflers - Casco (sp?) for about $80.[*]GT Midpipe - From thefriendly clerk at my Ford dealers parts counter. Upon further thought, my cost was about $110.[*]Hangers - got two for about $35 each from Ford. If you find a shop who has done many installs of aftermarket GT exhaust systems, they may have some of the original hangers laying around. The shop who installed mine had several Ford hangers in the back, so ask your installer before buying hangers.[*]X-pipe - Ford on-road duty (retains cats) for a GT. Found mine on eBay for $89 plus shipping.[*]Labor - $120, which included a new clamp for one that was missing.[*]Bumper cut-out - free! I cut it myself by making a template of the passenger side. Just remember that the bumper tapers, so the cutout is not a perfect half circle.[/ul]
By memory, that totals to $469, which is higher than I remember it being. You should also read the following threads:
