Interesting bit about the tuner and the increase in fuel economy. Never thought of that. I wonder if it would even itself out with the 4:10s. Maybe you could do the test for us if no one has done that yet.
I don't have a tuner and CAI combo yet. That will definatly be the first mod I do though. Just have to wait for my accident settlement to get finalized first or save up the money again. I took my extra money and bought my mom a computer today because hers has gotten really slow and sad. Thought it would be a nice thing to do for her to repay her for some of the things she's don't for me.

Just got the rpm's for Highway with 4.10's and economy mode.
Stock gear ratio:2k rpm at 60mph, 65mph-2.2k rpm
4.10's with tuner set at economy mode:2.2k rpm at 60mph and 66mph-2.35k rpm
4.10's w/o economy mode-60mph-2.45k rpm 65mph-2.55k rpm
So, according to this. Getting 4.10's and turning on economy mode with ur tuner, gets u the same mpg 3.73's would or a little better. And people who get 3.73's say they don't lose any mpg. So this would mean if u got 4.10's and turned on economy mode for ur highway driving, u would get the same milage u were before u got the 4.10's. But remember, u will have to turn off economy mode when u want to have fun, because the throttle response is noticably slower in economy mode. But there u gou get bettermpg with 4.10's in economy modethan if u got 3.73's. So,ucan do that andsave urself the .5-1.5mpg loss of highway driving. And on the 3.73's in an auto. I here 3.73'sin anauto are a like doublethe gainof putting a cai in ur car. So, did u notice the gain of a non-tuned cai in ur car? If not, $700 for aboutdouble the gain than that cai IMO, is not worth it. But, then imaginedouble that gain, for the same price. And the same mpg, if it's ur work car in economy mode! I say, how could u turn that down! Sounds too good tobe true, but it isn't! So I hope this puts it in perspective!

RE: 4.10's are awesome!
How involved is the gear installation and what kind of knowledge is needed? My friend's dad owns a shop and hes since installed an axleback and changed my oil for free. Since the install is almost as much as the gears and t-loc together, I might be able to save a lot of money on installation. I think he does mostly exhaust and some tranny work. Do you think he would know how to install gears or is it a very specialized installation?

RE: 4.10's are awesome!
If he's done drivetrain and tranny work maybe, but make sure he's done it before a couple of times b/c it's easy to **** up. My regular mechanic said he wouldn't touch the gears and t-lok b/c it can get messed up easy, so he referred me to a bodyshop guy. No average person who's not a mechanic could do this job, and some mechanics won't do this job. So be careful who u have install these cause if things go wrong u'll have to rebuild ur whole rear end and that would cost mucho dollars.

RE: 4.10's are awesome!
I was going to put a set of 4.10s on my '05 (along with T-Lok) from the guysover atSteeda butI got a call late today from the sales guy telling me that the 4.10s have been discontinued. WTF!
They suggested either going with the 3.73 or something else that I cannot remember. I will be calling them back in the morning to get more details but is this just a Canadian thing or has anyone else heard of this?
Mike
