Is a tuner really worth the money?

You'll be happy with a tune no doubt, especially since you have an auto.
You will absolutely be thrilled with a tune package deal however. That will truly unlock the performance potential!
The VMP package w/ the intake, larger MAF and GT exhaust would be the best bang for the buck.

Though I would go with the non muffler package and look for a GT muffler locally to save some money

Thanks for the answers guys. So which would be better, the SCTor the Diablosport? Basically I want the trans to shift as hard a possible and the throttle as snappy as possible..

SCT or Diablo...
The way I figured out which tuner to buy was totalk w/my local 'Stang Crazies. If you find that ppl in your area use one tuner more-so than the other, go with that one -- more local support. Also, if you're going to establish a relationship with a Tuner shop, definately go with the brand they work with.
Throttle response, lag, traction control...
Once you've been playing w/ your [soon-to-purchase] tuner, you'll find you like the responsiveness when you TURN-OFF the traction control in the tuning. Just hitting the dashboard switch only does half the task. The tuner really turns it off & as such, your baseline responsiveness is greatly improved.
Lastly, play with the different octane tunes. I'm now using the 93 tune w/ 93 octane pump fuel exclusively w/ my '05 V6. This 'Stangfeelsway stronger than before. Kinda like a dose of pony ampedemine!
