Default Is a tuner really worth the money?

I have an 06 Srcreaming Yellow with the Pony Package. See, at first I didnt care about power and just wanted it for the looks. I have had it for a year and a half and yesterday, for the first time I tried to lay a patch.. Im sorry but traction control on or off this car is gutless. No bottom at all its kinda pathetic. I mean it cant be that sluggish. I do the throttle reset all the time but that makes it snappier but doesnt help at all response wise. Some on here say a tuner will really wake it up but I want to make sure before pop down nearly $400 bucks. I have an 87 chevy half ton pickup i drive to work with a 305, 700r trans and 2.73 highway gears and its got more bottom end grunt than my $24,000 sports car. I have a feeling its all in that drive by wire deal. To me a cable would have been a better idea but what do I know?

As a certified mechanic I never was much on everything going electronic. Once I have been around it for a while some things are a big improvement, the throttle included. If you have ever drove a vehicle that had a stuck throttle cable you would also LOVE the electronic throttle control. I have a 07 alloy pp 5 spd.and I dont experience the throttle lag you auto guys do. If you have a auto IMO a tuner is a MUST. Even without a tuner though you should be able to lay some rubber down even though it will be a one wheel wonder. But to answer your question I would buy a tuner If I had a auto the difference is night and day.

the tuner is definetly a noticeable on the autos. Just match it with an intake at the same time.

You'll be happy with a tune no doubt, especially since you have an auto.
You will absolutely be thrilled with a tune package deal however. That will truly unlock the performance potential!
The VMP package w/ the intake, larger MAF and GT exhaust would be the best bang for the buck.

Though I would go with the non muffler package and look for a GT muffler locally to save some money

Thanks for the answers guys. So which would be better, the SCTor the Diablosport? Basically I want the trans to shift as hard a possible and the throttle as snappy as possible..
