Default Charger hood clearances

I'm thinking about attempting to adapt this kit: http://users.adelphia.net/~rcaster/page3.html to our 6's.

I emailed him about the height of the charger and he told me from the top of the head to the top of the supercharger is 8 7/8 inches. I measured from the top of the valve covers [black] (which I assume he meant by head) and it wont clear the hood by about 1-1 3/4 inches.

Am I measuring wrong, how do the EE chargers for example fit, a smaller supercharger? This kit adapts the m-90.

Thanks.

you pull it off....you want to measure from the bottom of the plenum, the X actually sits lower than the stock plenum

btw, i wouldnt try to install that yourself. no offense to you personally, but that is something really basic that you didnt know, and I highly doubt that the system you are looking at is easy to install, or comes with decent instructions.

Thanks for clearing that up, I'll give er another measureing now.

I understand your concerns, but I think itd be worth a go, run boost and a/f guages and get it tuned, as well as all the extra fixings. Worst case scenario I need to unload it on someone and I lose a few hundred bucks, best case I pave a way for diy power adders.

The biggest hurdle I would think would be figuring out how to mount the throttle body to the intake plenum, the kit was built for cable'd throttle and thats what I'm used to (in addition to carbs haha).

Alright man, good luck with it. Btw, I guess I missed the last question. the EE kit adapts the m95. As for the TB mounting, I dont think it will be an issue, unless the way that the new and old TBs mount are different. You will probably want to clear that up with the guy you are buying it from before you do anything. If it will fit on, it should not be an issue at all though, the TB will do its work on its own.

BTW, I wish we had a cable throttle...

Keep us posted, I have heard a bit about this kit before, but it is cool to see somebody actually go though with it!

Thanks for the encouragement chrisc, im going to see if the part number between the stock (cable) 02 ford ranger intake plenum vs the stock (electronic) 05 mustang plenum are the same, cause if thats so. Then itll bolt right up Thats the hope anyway.

Ill have to check the measurments on the mp90 kit, thanks!

Winter is fast coming, so I dunno if its a viable project right now as this will be my first winter driving a sports car. But im canadian and used to rwd trucks, so we'll see how it goes haha.

Edit: I think the last thing I'll need to figure out is the air intake, its mounted on the ranger like so http://users.adelphia.net/~rcaster/supercharger0008.jpg (intake fromthe passenger side). Im hoping the plenum and tb will just flip 180deg and still work otherwise Im going to need to fab my own custom plenum.

Edit2: While im at it, I suppose I need to start figuring out if stock injectors and maf are fine.
