idling High!!!

Default idling High!!!

whenever i come to a stop or put it in neutral while coasting the rpms go up to about 2k, then after about 5-6 seconds, maybe more then they drop down to normal. anyone had this before?

yes....all the time.....but mostly when i first start up or am about to shut down

it is not normal that they raise that high. it is normal for them to raise about 300RPM, but that should only bring you to like 1.2kRPM

I have a automatic and mine use to raise the rpms alot when I would come to a stop. But I think it had something to do with my tune. It dont do it anymore.

i was thinking maybe a throttle body clean could help it?

i think there was a post about this a long, long time ago, and a bunch of people had the same problem. if i remember correctly they said that if u give it a small rev, i mean like a 200 rpm rev, then it would go back down.

its normal and it happens for quite a few reasons...dont worry about it.

Mine did that when my throttle was shorted. I was having all kinds of problems with the car dynig and having to be jumpstarted. It was very embarassing and frustrating. The dealership didn't know what was going on with it... they said they'd never seen a Mustang do that before. Eventually it did it and lucky for me restarted, so I took it in and they pulled up the code and fixed it.I'd get it checked just to be safe.
