I installed one myself on an older car I owned a few years ago. I didn't end up using it that much.

The only reason I can think to get a remote start is to warm up the vehicle in the winter. With gas hovering around $3.00 a gallon, I don't even bother wasting fuel just idling the car in the driveway. A heavier coat or good stocking cap works just as well for me.

factory remote start seems like a pita from what raubt was saying. They are cool for an auto. But just get the aftermarket alarm with rs. I have the clifford avantguard 5.1. But there is no lockout for if it was accidentally in gear.

When I bought the car, I had the dealer install a remote start in my 4.0L/auto vert (I'm sure the dealer sub-contracted the work to an outside installer). Love it! I can start the car from the outside and listen to music coming from the exhaust!
