Heads and Cam final debate!

Heads and Cam final debate!
I know that somebody(not on this forum)did p&p heads by them self and only dyno'd a 15hp crank gain. I no that a cam alone would only make about that gain. So according to this, a cam and head job would do at least 40hp(crank) since they both work better together. Is this a likely low #, high #, or just right? I want to know peoples opinions and to see if anyone did heads and cam on a n/a set-up yet. The heads and cam would cost around$2.2k-$2.4kshipped from ssm and install would run $500-$850+$200 dyno tune. Just wondered if it would be worth the $3k+. Any infoand opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Forgot, also what would be the affect of an aftermarket/bigger tb hp wise? And take into account all the #'s ur calculating on cars that have bigger maf cai's. Thank You!

No, I'm not f/i. The cam is a guess and the heads have been dyno proven to put out around 12-20hp crank. I was guessing the cam was worth 15hp, I could be wrong since cams on 3.8's alone have put out up to 30hp+. And heads around the same.

just fyi, ur very very low on ur labor estimate. id say 900-1200 in labor + tune. at my shop id probably charge 1100.
so ur lookin at about 3500 for maybe 30-40rwhp? definately not worth it.

fazm pulled the words out of my mouth. it is not worth it unless you plan on doing F/I later on. Personally, I would just take that 3500, save up a bit more, and get F/I.
