Fog Lamps

so i'm thinking that i really want some fog lights so i can black out my headlights cause i think it looks badass. So i essentially have two questions:
1. If i get fogs either the GT grille, or get just a set of fogs either from like pep boys or just the fogs off of a GT, do i need to buy that $100 wiring harness that everybody is selling, or can i just hook it up to my fuse box and put a switch inside?
2. Will it be bright enough at night time with 5% on my headlights, and essentially just using my fog lights?

thanks in advance!

RE: Fog Lamps

You need the wiring harness if you are going to use factory foglights. The only way around it is to get a complete fog light kit, or if you have the PP already.

RE: Fog Lamps

why can't i just wire it to an empty fuse and put an in line switch?

Where are you going to get the connectors to plug into the foglights? You have to buy them, you can't just wire them right up to the lights.

oh do they have a crazy clip like the headlights do?why can't there just be a positive and ground like NORMAL things? >_<

well is there any way i can cut off the connector and hook up the wires? i dont want to drop $200 on fog lights and another $100 on a damn harness.

you can always buy accessory lights and wire them to a separate switch. If you want the factory foglight switch on the dash you'll have to buy it, or buy a Ford kit complete with harness and lights. Look on Craigslist or e-bay for a factory take off. There's a bunch of them for sale starting around $200 and going up to over $600 for the factory Pony Package kight kit.

Yeah thats what i was getting at with the pep boys fog lights... just dont know if those would be bright enough if only 5% of the light is getting through my headlight tint...

I run with just my center fogs all the time with NO headlights.
Its bright enough for running around town but out on the hi-way
it would not project enough light to see far enough in front of
you at those speeds. Street Scene makes GT driving lights that
fit right where the OEM fogs are but they are 55W driving lights
and would probably work. Moss Mustang has them for ?$164.95?.
You will need a harness and a relay. A fused tap and a switch just
wont work well. Too much voltage drop to ensure bright lights.:D
