Default $3500 to spend and 400HP to gain

all I need help to know what is the best way to boost my v6 stock engine for 400hp if its possible. My budget is $3500-4000 for now. I am not an expert but I would like to improve my stang power. Is the x-charger the way for this budget or Turbo, Vortech or Procharger?? And how much to install each of them. will my warranty be still valid after adding the S/C. I am not planning to drive my car on the track but I really want some improvement. Any suggestions are welcome.

There are several threads already running that can answer the brunt of your questions.

Crank or RWHP? The X Hi-Po kit will get around280rwhp... Intercooled Vortech around 310... Turbo even more .Your numbers may be higher or lower based on your car other mods you may have. Yes FI will most likely void your powerrtrain warranty. If your worried aboutyour warranty, don't mod.

Short answer is 400 rwhp on that budget really isn't realistic. The stock internals on the engine really need to be beefed up once you start thinking 350 rwhp+, and that'll blow your budget right out of the water.

You won't see 400hp crank or rw unless you go intercooled supercharger or turbocharger. Both of those set-ups will run you around $5k at least installed and tunedwith the ones you need and the numbers your looking for. I don't thinkany intercooled supercharger can reach 400rwhp, so if that's what you want, you must go turbo and like torch vert said, you will need to forge some internals. I don't know if you wanthow much hp you want or do you reallywant track times. Your real goals would help a lot.Are you shooting for a low 13 sec,12sec, 11seccar? or a 400rwhp or 400hp crank car? Answer those and wecould give you adirect answer. If this is all your budget's gonna be and you want more power, look into the x-charger which you can install your self that will run $3,800-$4,200 with the 2 kits they have or a vortech non-ic(under $4k) orintercooled kit( I believe $4.4k something) that you will need installed and tuned. With thex-charger $3.8k kit, you will see around 260rwhp(300hp crank) and $4.2k kit,280rwhp(325crank hp) both on stock cars I believe. You'll seearound270-275rwhp(310-320hp crank)with the right pulley on a regularvortech and intercooled vortech you will see around320-335rwhp with the right pulley. All those rw#'s are for manualtransmission cars, crank hp stays the same. If that's not the power your looking for their, save up for an intercooled procharger or turbocharger. Both canput you over350rwhp, and turbo's can putyou over 400rwhp. But most people willtell you, if this is your daily driver, don't go with too much boost(more than 11/12psi intercooled or 9psi non-intercooled. Turbo's your best bet if you want 400rwhp, but you will need to do some more carmodifications so your carcan take that power, which will run another $2.5k at least(stronger transmission, built internals,8.8 rear end). Good Luck on whatyou choose!

you will also want an upgraded exhaust, t-lok, 3.73 gears (one wheel burnouts are lame), upgraded suspension, and what alot of people forget is when you go faster, you also need to slow down faster, so you might want to upgrade your brakes.

all said and done this could run close to 8grand then you have to have everything installed (probably another 2grand since its alot of parts)

break it up into smaller things, do the exhaust first, then gears, t-lok, then suspension, breaks, transmission, rear end, internals, tires/wheels, then the turbo.

Sell the V6.
Put the money with your $4000.
Go buy a GT and hop it up.
Its good for 400HP on the
stock internals and you will
have a GT instead of a V6.
Its a Win Win situation.

Not the best decision, unless he wants to pay more for insurance, pay more for gas, and have less power until he saves money for a yr or more. Also, with trade invalues and the $4k, he will have about 30k more miles on the GT he gets than the V6 he has now and has $0 left over for mods. So it's really not a good decision to do thatunless you have lots of money to spend or long term are looking for 400rwhp+.

Exactly! 3 Moderators to be exact! Yeah, I've been trying to get them to change that. Last mod I pissed offis the reasonI have that, long story short Iposted a comment to help someone going turbowith abunch of possibly needing andmaybe needings because he didn't specify how much hp he wanted to run. Because of that a moderator called me a post ***** which I really didn't do becauseI was helping the guy and then I called him a post ***** for posting that and not writing anything to help out the thread and posted this after that: [sm=owned.gif].DON'T DO THAT TO MODS! I got my posting actions disabled for only a day luckily and this neat new tag under my name. Hopefullyit will be changed soon. I gotta stop messingwith mods or I won't be around here much longer.
