I think you can go a bit wider. That is a decent tire, but not so sure about winter with them.I have had the same thing on my mind, just for winter rim tho.

Yeah, someone said you could go 245 on the stock 16's. Any wider is no good though.

+1 on the bigger rims and tires. I don't know what those tires will cost you but for about the same you could buy GT take-off Bullitt rims and tires. It's just my opinoin but I hate those 16" stock wheels on the Mustang.

go to ebay or something and grab a set of stock 17's with p-zero neros. you will get cooler rims with a better tire for about the same price

MADMAX

Before you buy those tires ! If you decide to go with 16s the 225/55/16 is not the recommended replacement size .
These tires are a bit shorter ,and will change your speedo calibration somewhat and would NOT be in the proper load range and service description. The most direct sizes if you stick with 16s are 235/60 16 and 255/55/16 .

I have 255/65r16 Grabber UHP's on the back of my car on the stock 16's.
I think they cost me $105 each mounted and balanced locally.
Try to find a pair of wide 17" tires for that cheap.
They run really nice.
Plenty of traction and fill out the rear wheel wells nicely without dealing with lowering it at all.
The ride is rough enough, lowering it would have made it unbareable.

I have a set of 17" bullits waiting for tires, but I couldnt justify $120 each for the stock size up front and $144 each for fat tires out back.
I only really needed new rear tires, so it was WAY cheaper.
When these tires get destroyed or wear out, I'll replace them with the 17's.

Thanks for the help! I'm gonna need wider tires for when I go forced induction. Did you have to fix your speedometer w/those tires? Thaks ahead!
