The install instructions I have read say the mounts are attached using 3M tape and a template to mark the correct locations.They also mention foil that I can't quite figure out what it's used for. They should be removable at a later date if desired.

there are 6 total mounting points on the rear glass, all use the 3M tape to attach. 2 points at the top are for the hinges to mount to. 2 at the top corners secure the top corners of the louvers so they don't rattle I suspect. 2 on each side near the bottom are where they use a simple latch to lock them down. the also have a run of about a 1/2" thick black foam type roll tape that you attach to each side of the louvers. so basicly they never actually touch the glass directly.
the 3m tape is unforgiving once attached so you must get it right the first time. I believe there is a release agent but if not it isn't coming off your window.
