Octane gas + Tune Question
Hey guys,
Quick question... There was a small screw up with my tunes on a new XCal2 that I had received. I was supposed to get custom 87/91/93 tunes, but instead I got 87/ 89 / 93... So before I got the tuner, I had filled up my entire tank with 91 octane gas. Seeing that I was missing that tune, I just loaded up the closest thing for now which was the 89. Now the car's performance is pure and simple awesome.... But.... There is still a bit of pinging (not much and if you have dog ears like me, you'd notice). It only happens when I drive the car, and just hold the gas pedal down a tiny bit (very light pressure), or when driving I tap it down a bit to speed up a bit. Does not happen during normal accelaration or WOT. Can this be because of the 89 tune running 91 gas in the tank? Something with the timing? Do you think that might be diminished or go away when I burn up the 91 and fill up with 89 next time? I'd love to get the car on a dyno soon, to see the HP and TQ as well as the AF ratio, but if I spend another dime on my car this year, my wife will castrate me... Know what I mean? []
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys...

RE: Octane gas + Tune Question
It shouldn't ping running 91octane on a 89 tune.
If you run 89 octaneon a 91 tune it probably would ping.
If I buy cheap 91 octane gas my 91 tune pings a little.
I have run 91 octane on my 87 tune and it runs great.
