k&n drop in vs. Airhog??
ok so i im close to hitting 5k miles and its time to change the air filter. Due to a lack of funds i cant put in a CAI right now till summer comes so till than i wanted to put in a drop in instead of the cheapo paper ones. I saw that fram makes the airhog and its cheaper than k&n. Anyone tried this drop in filter yet? which one do u think is better?

Isn't 5000 miles a bit earlyto change the air filter ?
I am at about 18,000 miles and still have not changed it. Probably should soon though, what is the recomended mileage for air filter change ?
I am also considering the K&N drop in filter too. I have read and heard that the drop-in could increase power and throttle response slightly.
I have also read that the K&N might not filter as well though.
In long run the K&N should save money though since it can be cleaned rather than replaced.
I am also interested in any experiences with the K&N drop-in on the 4.0 Mustang.

well i live in the desert and i used to work at a restaurant in the outskirts of town. There was a lot of dust storms and it got dirty all the time. I used to clean it a little with an air compressor but i dropped the compressor once and it broke. So now its getting full of dirt. I could keep it probly for up to 7k miles but i dont want to lose a single hp due to it being dirty.

how much can you afford? i'm selling my old intake.
as for the drop in, its the best thing to do if you have no modding plans. if you already plan on getting an intake in the future, save your cash. you shouldnt feel any significant performance difference with the drop-in. a little quicker throttle response is the most you will likely feel. not familiar with the airhog but expect the same results as the k&n.
