Bear in mind, he's up against an SL, which has about 230 hp. Some of you may have raced base 3000GTs in the past, which only have about 175 HP.

It depends on the year, SL means nothing (pre 96) other than it has fancy gizmos and in turn weighs more. If it's a DOHC (91-96/base and SL) it has 222hp (about190 at the wheels)if it's aSOHC (97-99 base) ithas what you said, 175hp (about 160hp at the wheels). If it's a SL (front wheel drive) TT conversion (which is what I'll be doing to my 96 3000GTin the near future) you don't have a chance. They will even beat the AWD VR4 TT (at a roll) and those start at 320hp. If it's a5 speedDOHC though it should be a pretty good race but you should win as long as it's from a stop. But as always the driver has a big impact as well.

i raced my friends dodge stealth, same engine as the 3000gt as you probably already know. He has the 3.0 in it with around 222 hp

needless to say that 222 hp isnt to the wheels.

he got his *** handed to him when i raced him. numerous times actually.

and as far as it goes with him turboing or supercharging his car, i highly doubt it. My friend really looked into charging his 3.0 and he found out that the compression ratio isnt friendly to alot of boost, dont get me wrong, it can be done but its not worth it in the end.

Actually TT the 3000GT/Stealth is really easy as most of the parts are bolt on from a VR4/StealthTT. And very reliableto boot. It can be done forunder $1000 (if you know where to look) and they have/had many records over the years. There have even been 440s dropped in them with some "minor" modifacations hahaha.

i stand corrected. i wasn't aware a swap was that easy and cheap. thanks for now freaking out on me by the way, thats why i never use this forum because everything becomes a huge argument.

as for the compression issue, it must just be with superchargers on the 3000gt engine, i heard they used to make them for the car but not anymore. i may however be wrong, im just relaying info from my 3000gt friend

Sorry if you thought i was freaking out on you? I was just relaying the information that I know from being a 3000GT owner and member of www.3si.org? Didn't mean for you to take it the wrong way. And when it comes to Superchargers, I think there have only been a handful that have working properly on the those cars, not enough room to make it work. There was 1 company that sold a kit but it had a lot of issues (compression being of of the problems) and like I was saying it's just so much cheaper to TT it that there wasn't a demand for a Superchager.
