Car won't go into gear..

Car won't go into gear..
I was driving home, and my dashboard lights started to flicker and then all of a sudden they went out. So I happened to be at a stop light, so I put the car in park and shut it off....when I started it back up, the lights would not come back on and the car will not go into gear....I can't budge it out of park. anyone know what is going on here????

Did you try the slot by the tranny?
Read your owers manual and it well tells you about unlocking the stick or unlocking the tranny!
ps: I could be wrong about this, but it happen to me before!

If its an auto, I had a trans cable go, it was a warrenty issue and they took car of it at the dealer. It doens't (according to my service guy) happen to the mustang much but the 4.0 Explorer has a TSB on it. It would take me a few minutes to get it in gear if at all sometimes....

Ive had this happen once but I was in a parking lot. Honestly if you get a hammer or something else heavy and give it a good whack right ontop of the engine where the valves are it might get going again. Thats how i got mine to work again. Then again im like that russian in Armaggedon, hitting **** over and over until it works.

I think it is something electrical though, because I know there is a saftey thing where your car won't go into frive if your headlights are out, which is what my case is. Nothing electricaol works in my car except the wipers.
I turned it on this morning and everything seems to be working fine except my remote unlock...I have to manually unlock the doors. Freakin weird!!!

the only thing I have added is a Kicker amp. But I have had it since May with no problems. I have the remote turn on wire for the amp plugged into the wippers fuse.
Like I said, everything works fine now except my remote transmitter. I reprogrammed the two transmitters the way the owners manual says to, I reprogrammed the first one...worked like a charm, then when I reprogrammed my spare, it worked, but then the first doesn't work, then if I re-do the first, the spare won't work...uuuuuuuuuuuuggggggggggggghhhhhh. I was so trying to avoid a trip to the dealership.
